About Us

As a program of Hudson Valley Agribusiness Development Corporation (HVADC) Hudson Valley Bounty (HVB) seeks to accomplish the following goals:

  • Connect farms and food producers to different kinds of buyers.
  • Educate communities about agricultural issues and facilitate access to local food and farm information.
  • Promote local food offerings in the Hudson Valley and surrounding areas.

Connect

HVB aims to connect local agricultural producers and culinary businesses to consumers, wholesalers and institutional buyers interested in sourcing food from local farms. Our network spans eight counties (Albany, Columbia, Dutchess, Orange, Rensselaer, Sullivan, Ulster and Washington) and is comprised of a diverse community of farmers, specialty food and craft beverage producers, farm to table restaurants, farmers markets, retailers, grocers and other regional businesses that support Hudson Valley agriculture.

HVB links consumers and other buyers to these businesses through our searchable online directory of local food and farm information. Visitors can use this tool to identify farms and other local food offerings by product, geographic area, growing practice, farm/food certification or market channel. We collect comprehensive details from our members to better assist you with your local food search. HVB seeks to help strengthen your connection to your local food system.

Educate

HVB aims to educate families, communities, wholesalers and institutional buyers, legislators and the general public about issues related to farming in the Hudson Valley. HVB was born out of a small local movement to educate the community about the preservation of local farms. From the Black Dirt region to the Adirondacks, Hudson Valley farmers experience many challenges specific to the agricultural industry such as a short Northeast growing season and expensive overhead costs. Through our website, we post articles and news stories that seek to raise awareness of issues facing our local food system and suggest opportunities to support the Hudson Valley farm and food economy.

Promote

HVB aims to promote Hudson Valley farms and food producers to residents and visitors of the region and surrounding areas. Through our website, curated email blasts and social media, HVB shares information on upcoming events, new product offerings, farmers markets, and other topics related to local food. We repost, share, and link to information posted by our members to help them reach a wider audience and gain additional followers. HVB strives to promote our region’s bountiful supply of farm and food offerings and further increase the visibility of our agricultural producers.

Develop

As the region’s sole economic development agency with a specific focus on the viability of the agricultural economy in the Hudson Valley, HVADC seeks to help farms, food producers and agribusiness entrepreneurs develop and enhance their economic success. It assists both new and existing agri-businesses by providing Business Technical Assistance, access to capital through its Hudson Valley AgriBusiness Loan Fund, grant writing and access assistance and resources. As a certified Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI), the non-profit promotes balanced, market-based solutions that lead to enhanced agricultural entrepreneurship, rural economic growth, diversity inclusion, and community enhancement. HVADC’s FeedHV community food network is a volunteer and donor driven program that rescues food that would otherwise go to waste and redirects it to agencies with food assistance programs throughout the Hudson Valley.
